KKBS Investigates “All Natural” Labeling on GMO and GE Foods.

A substantial portion of the food now consumed in the US is made from ingredients that have been Genetically Engineered (“GE”) or that contain Genetically Modified Organisms (“GMO”). These ingredients are most commonly found in processed foods and have begun to dominate grocery store shelves in recent years.

The most common GMOs in the US include Corn, Soy, and Canola.  Because these ingredients are used in some capacity in practically all processed goods, consumers likely ingest several servings a day of GMOs.  What may be more shocking however is that many of these processed goods that contain high levels of GMO ingredients are marketed and sold under health-conscious-oriented labels such as “All Natural.”

Unfortunately, GMOs are anything but “natural.”  In fact, not only are the ingredients genetically engineered in ways that nature did not intend, but one of the primary genetic modifications consists of creating new plants that can tolerate ever increasing quantities of patented pesticide application–pesticides that we as consumers purchase and ingest with our family and friends.  Furthermore, there is significant scientific evidence that suggests that eating GMOs or GE foods can cause chronic health issues.

Krause Kalfayan Benink & Slavens, LLP (“KKBS”) believes that we, as consumers, have the right to know whether our food has been made with GMO or GE ingredients.  With this desire, KKBS is investigating products distributed under “Mother’s” and “Barbara’s Bakery” brands, among others, that label their products “All Natural” yet contain GMO or GE ingredients.

If you have purchased any of these products or similarly labeled “All Natural” products that include GMO or GE ingredients, and would like more information, please contact us either below or by clicking on “Contact Us” in the upper right hand corner of your screen.
